The saga from Extremadura “Los Porrinas” has Guadiana as one of its strongest assets. Antonio Suarez is the brother of Ramon El Portuguese, nephew of Porrinas de Badajoz, cousin of La Negra and Juan Salazar. When he was only seventeen years old debuted in a tablao in Madrid; professional career that continued through the eighties acting in different tablaos of Madrid. Guadiana is one of the most popular singers to accompany the dance: El Güito, La Tati, Javier Barón, La Tolea and, most recently, Merche Esmeralda and Antonio Canales, whose company he used to compose for.
His collaboration has also been required for international performances of guitar players such as Pepe Habichuela, who included his song on his album Yerbagüena (2001). The singer from Badajoz recorded ‘Cuando el Río Suena’, his first album in 1999, and ‘Brillo de Luna’ (‘Moon Shine’) in 2002. In 2009 Guadiana participated in ‘Chanson Flamenca’, a project in which a large cast of singers lent themselves to “flamenquize” the French music. Collaborated on the album ‘Cositas Buenas’ (2004) by Paco de Lucía and shared the stage with him in the Pirineos Sur Festival in Huesca, 2004. He has just published ‘Sonakai’ (2012), his latest solo album, working with the participation of the main artists from the “jondo” singing such as the late Enrique de Melchor and Tomatito.
