NAME: Guillermo Campos Jiménez, Morenito de Illora

BIRTHPLACE: Illora, Granada, 1965

CAREER: Member of a gypsy family of fans and famous artists, living in an atmosphere of song and dance who emigrated to Barcelona, ​​like many other families in Andalusia, when he was only seven years.

He worked for three years with Flora Albaicín. With Nene de Santa Fe they created the group called Pureza, debuting at the Palcio de Deportes de Granada.

José Monje Cruz, Camarón de la Isla, sponsored him in one of those flamenco festivals that were organized in the late 70s. Since then, they locked a good relationship, it takes him to work with the great singer in the cave Los Tarantos, on Sacromonte, becoming prominent among the singers to dance.

It has been claimed by Mariquilla, La Tati, Javier Barón, Blanca de Rey, Manuela Carrasco, Antonio Canales, Mario Maya, Cristina Hoyos, Joaquín Cortés and others, traveling the world and collaborating on the two first CDs of Joaquín Cortés.

Morenito de Illora, has all the virtues that a singer must have: temple, courage, power, knowledge, time and sensitivity, that joined with his admiration for Antonio Chaqueta and Manolo Caracol, made an explosive cocktail. The smooth metal of his voice and unusual compass has opened many doors and launched his solo career, recording four CDs and important collaborations.

The albums that make up his discography are: Pasión (1991), produced by Pepe de Lucia, India, with the guitar of Juan Manuel Cañizares, Benavent and Chano Dominguez. Yo quiero volar (1994), with the collaboration of Pedro Sierra, Tobala and Juan José Amador, among others. A Paco de Lucía (1995), with the guitar of Tomatito and Paquito Fernandez, among others.

And the latest album Alumbra mi vida, launched in 2001 with Mercury Records.

Currently is doing a great job as a producer (directing Tijeritas on his next CD), promoting new talents like Yoyo, Chaure Caló, Juan Ángel, Los Lunares and guitarists like Miguel Ángel Cortés and David Carmona have recently recorded songs from their many compositions.
He works continuously in the casts of the major national Tablaos.
