Juana Silva Esteban, Gypsy flamenco singer, better known under her stage name Juana la Revuelo, she was born in Seville in 1952 and she inherited the stage nickname from her husband, Martín Jiménez Revuelo, an excellent flamenco singer who lost his voice and since then he’s limited to accompany his wife with “las palmas” (clapping hands) and “el son”. Her personality transmits sympathy and sparkle just looking at her, with her broad humanity and carefree way, wearing a basket and showing off funny short pants underneith the skirt while she’s acompanying the song with dance. On bulerías and tangos she is truly remarkable. On the festive songs and the soul of Triana, she is one of the best performers. This is demonstrated by the award she won in 1983 in the contest of Mairena de Alcor dancing “bulerias”. On stage she’s got great presence, she’s a real tornado of unsurpassable freshness and joy. In her song she has an outstanding control of rhythm and a typical flamenco voice with “metallic echoes”.
